PANO - Major General Le Hien Van, Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army, on November 8 hosted a reception for a delegation of the Internal Security Department under the General Department of Politics of the Lao People’s Army, led by its director Major General Bunlieng Sengphachan.

General Van stressed that the two countries’ defense cooperation has comprehensively developed and has gained practical achievements. This has actively contributed to raising Vietnam-Laos’ mutual understanding and promoting defense capabilities and the building of a regular and modern army to defend each country. It has also helped foil all schemes of hostile forces who aim to undermine and break Vietnam-Laos relationship. The defense cooperation has also facilitated security and political maintenance and socio-economic stability in each country.

General Van spoke highly of the results of the talks between the Lao delegation and the Vietnamese delegation of the Military Security Department under the General Department Politics and hoped that the two departments would further cooperate in the time to come.

For his part, the guest said that the above- talks’ outcome would be good experience for the Lao department to better fulfill its national protection mission in the current context.
