A potential market

With its strength in seaport transportation services, this was an opportunity for the Saigon Newport Corporation to promote its products and connect with other partners. Deputy Director of the company Naval Captain Bui Van Quy held that in the framework of the exhibition, the Saigon Newport Corporation inked a memorandum of understanding with the Phnom Penh Autonomous Port (PPAP), marking the strategic cooperation between the two leading ports of the two countries. Accordingly, the bilateral cooperation will improve performance and reduce logistics costs, contributing to the sustainable development of enterprises while promoting economic and trade development between Vietnam and Cambodia.

For his part, Senior Colonel Pham Xuan Thanh, Director of Coffee Company 15, Military Region 5, noted that their coffee products are enjoyed by many Cambodian people. They are impressed by the taste of coffee as well as the process of producing high-quality products. “I hope that in the coming time there will be more room in this market,” he added.

Attending VIDEX 2023 for the first time, Mr. Hoang Van Du, Deputy Director of the Agricultural Trade Promotion Center under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, was surprised that Cambodian people were interested in many Vietnamese agricultural products. “The Cambodian market has many similarities with Vietnam; however, many Vietnamese products have enjoyed competitive advantages, such as pepper, cashew nuts, products made from rice (vermicelli, rice paper, pho), coffee, and fruit juices. I think this is a potential market, and we see many opportunities for cooperation,” he added.

Ms. Vu Thi Thanh Hao, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of Thinh An Tea Cooperative in Dong Hy district, Thai Nguyen province, also sought opportunity through the exhibition. After three days, nearly 100kg of tea that her company brought to the event was sold out. In addition, she also established connections with new partners to expand her products to the Cambodian and Thai markets.

Active in cooperation and development

Thanks to the care and sound direction of the Vietnamese and Cambodian Defense Ministries, as well as the close coordination between the two sides, the exhibition ended successfully. The exhibition displayed images and artifacts featuring good neighborliness, traditional friendship, and comprehensive cooperation between the two states, peoples, and militaries, contributing to raising troops’ and public awareness of the Vietnam - Cambodia long-lasting traditional relationship and mutual support in the cause of national independence and construction of each country.

There were 213 booths from 148 businesses, including 27 Vietnamese military enterprises with 43 stalls. Many booths with modern styles attracted a large number of visitors, such as those of the Military Industry-Telecoms Group (Viettel), the Military Commercial Joint Stock Bank (MB Bank), Saigon New Port Corporation, Construction Corporation 789, Coffee Company 15, and Vietnam-Russia Tropical Center, among others.

In the framework of VIDEX 2023, a string of seminars on Vietnam-Cambodia trade cooperation were held, with eight cooperation agreements, and memorandums of understanding, and principle contracts signed between Vietnamese and Cambodian enterprises.

Besides, the Vietnamese cultural space of the Department of Information and Education of the General Department of Political Affairs of the Vietnam People’s Army attracted many visitors to get to know the unique cultural features of Vietnam. Senior Colonel Dang My Hanh, Deputy Head of the department’s Culture and Arts Division, held that this was the highlight of VIDEX 2023, featuring the images of the Vietnam-Cambodia solidarity and friendship as well as the patriotism of Vietnamese expats living and working in Cambodia.

The success of the exhibition contributed to cultivating the traditional friendship, mutual trust, and assistance between the two states, peoples and militaries.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the event, Major General Tran Dinh Thang, Head of the Department of Economics of the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense affirmed that via the Cambodian market, Vietnam would reach other demanding markets in the world. This was also a rehearsal for military enterprises to attend big exhibitions in Europe in the coming time. “To do so, we need to introduce our products, which meet international standards,” he emphasized.
