In order to create the best conditions for the Lao delegation, leaders of Military Region 1 (MR1) and MR1’s Political Department directed agencies and units to make thorough preparations for the reception of the delegation.

Upon visiting and working with the Thai Nguyen provincial Military Command, the Lao delegation and I were delighted at the warm reception of the unit.

The delegation of the Lao People’s Army Newspaper visits Tin Keo relic located in the National Special Relic of Dinh Hoa ATK.

At the working session, Senior Colonel Phan Quyet Thang, Deputy Political Commissar of the Thai Nguyen provincial Military Command, briefed the delegation on the situation of the province’s socio-economic development and building of the party organization and political system. He also hoped that there would be more activities to share experience with reporters of the Lao People’s Army Newspaper to enhance mutual understanding and raise the efficiency of the coordination between the Thai Nguyen provincial Military Command and the Lao People’s Army Newspaper, thereby consolidating Vietnam-Laos special solidarity and friendship, and comprehensive cooperation.

During the meeting with the Military Region 1 Newspaper, the newspaper’s Editor-in-Chief Senior Colonel Khuong Van Doan shared experience in information dissemination on military-defense tasks and military-defense work in 6 provinces of MR1, as well as measures to raise the quality of its reporters, meeting the task requirements of editing and publishing articles, etc.

An unforgettable memory of the trip was that reporters from the Lao People's Army Newspaper and I visited Tin Keo relic located in the National Special Relic of Dinh Hoa ATK.

Before the visit, we read information related to Laos-Vietnam special solidarity via Laos’ mass media. However, visiting Dinh Hoa ATK, I had a chance to see with my own eyes the photos, documents, and artifacts, and the tour guide told me about the special friendship between President Ho Chi Minh and Prince Souphanouvong, to name but a few.

Through the exhibits, we had a better understanding of the good friendship between President Ho Chi Minh and Prince Souphanouvong, who laid the foundation for the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.

Leaving Thai Nguyen in a sunny autumn afternoon, reporters of the Lao People’s Amry Newspaper and I acquired precious experience and lessons during the refresher course on journalism. After returning to our home country, we will effectively apply learned knowledge to reality. The field trips left deep impression and unforgettable memories of the support and sentiments of leaders of the MR1 Command, the Vietnam People’s Amry Newspaper, MR1’s Political Department, the Thai Nguyen provincial Military Command and the Military Region 1 Newspaper.

Lieutenant Colonel Khonesavanh Xayalath, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Lao People’s Army Newspaper
