Vietnam and Laos effectively coordinate in border management
PANO - Chief of the Vietnam Border Guard Command Lieutenant General Le Duc Thai received Colonel Saisaminh Sivilay, Deputy Head of the Department of Security cum Head of the Department of Immigration under Laos’ Ministry of Security, on September 26 in Hanoi on the occasion of his working visit to Vietnam.
At the meeting, Lieutenant General Le Duc Thai laid stress on the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between the two parties, states, militaries, and peoples.

He said that in 2021, the Vietnam Border Guard Command and the General Department of Security under the Ministry of Security of Laos signed a cooperation agreement to actualize the agreement on regulations on national border reached by the two countries. Since then, the two sides have effectively coordinated in managing border gates, controlling border entry and exit, ensuring security and order, supporting each other in preventing and fighting the COVID-19 pandemic, thus facilitating activities in border areas.
For his part, Colonel Saisaminh Sivilay briefed Lieutenant General Le Duc Thai on Laos’ recent situation. He thanked the Vietnam Border Guard Command for its support for Lao side over the past time and highly appreciated the close coordination between the two sides.

Colonel Saisaminh Sivilay hoped that the cooperation will be strengthened in the coming time, contributing to ensuring security and order along the shared borderline.
