The vessels of the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force arrive at Tien Sa port.

The two vessels with nearly 480 officers and sailors onboard, led by Commander of the Vessel Training Unit No.1 Colonel II Masaaki, were welcomed by Vietnamese representatives from the municipal Department of External Affairs, the Naval Region 3 Command, the Military Region 5 Command, Da Nang city’s Border Guard and Military Commands, and the Defense Ministry’s Department of Foreign Relations.

The welcome ceremony was also attended by Japanese Consul General in Da Nang Yakabe Yoshinori, Deputy Consul General Shimonishi Kyoshi, and Deputy Defense Attaché Lieutenant Colonel Hamamoto Michinori from the Japanese Embassy in Vietnam.

During the three-day visit, the ships’ crew-members will pay courtesy calls on leaders of the municipal People’s Committee and Naval Region 3 Command via videoconferencing.

According to Colonel II Masaaki, the visit to Vietnam of the Japanese ship formation aims to promote exchanges and mutual understanding between the Vietnam People’s Navy and the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force, as well as defense cooperation between the two countries.
