This is the second course of its kind supported by France for the VNDPKO. The five-day course aims to equip personnel preparing for deployment to U.N. peacekeeping operations and VNDPKO’s staff members involved in training and medical support with battlefield first-aid knowledge and skills in accordance with U.N. requirements.

During the course, trainees will have a general view of battlefield first-aid in U.N. peacekeeping environments, including basic principles of combat first-aid, casualty evacuation from dangerous areas, management of life-threatening injuries, airway management, monitoring respiratory issues, coordination in battlefield first-aid, frontline emergency care, tactical combat casualty care, emergency care during tactical evacuation, and scenario-based practical exercises.

In his opening remarks, VNDPKO Director Major General Pham Manh Thang expressed gratitude to the French Defense Attaché Office in Vietnam and French experts for facilitating this important course, and expressed hope for continued valuable cooperation and support.

He believed that with the enthusiastic support, professionalism, expertise, and experience of the French advisors, Vietnamese trainees will acquire essential combat first-aid knowledge, skills, and experience which are considered vital preparation for fulfilling tasks assigned by the Ministry of National Defense and the United Nations when deployed to mission areas.

For her part, French Defense Attaché to Vietnam Colonel Anne Brun emphasized the importance of such a training course for U.N. peacekeeping personnel to ensure their safety and the effectiveness of operations in increasingly complex, high-risk mission environments. She affirmed that the French Ministry of the Armed Forces attaches great importance to supporting Vietnam’s participation in U.N. peacekeeping activities, contributing to strengthening bilateral defense cooperation and reflecting the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.
