At the dialogue, the two sides discussed and shared the regional and international issues affecting the stability and peace of both countries, reviewed the outcomes of bilateral defense relations, and agreed upon cooperation orientations in the future.

It was noted that Vietnam and Cambodia have effectively implemented the Protocol and Plan on cooperation between the two defense ministries. Notably, the border management and protection was carried out actively, while the search for and repatriation of remains of Vietnamese voluntary soldiers and experts who sacrificed their lives in wartime in Cambodia achieved remarkable progress. In addition, the two sides collaborated to successfully organize Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen’s visit to his revolutionary path in Vietnam four decades ago and launch the movement to stimulate composition of art and literature works on the Vietnam-Cambodia solidarity and friendship.

Concerning cooperation orientations for next year, they agreed to continue increasing high-level meetings, maintaining regular information exchanges, and boosting collaboration in political and ideological education and dissemination on the traditional friendship between the two countries and their armies.

Apart from that, the two senior defense leaders also witnessed a signing ceremony of establishing a hotline between the Vietnam Coast Guard Command and the Cambodia’s National Committee for Maritime Security.

As part of the Cambodia’s official visit from Dec. 20 to 22, General Vinh and the high-raking Vietnamese defense delegation laid wreaths at the Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Memorial, and paid courtesy visits to Cambodian PM Hun Sen and Deputy-PM and Defense Minister General Tea Banh.
