Addressing the event, Gen. Vinh highly praised and appreciated relevant agencies and units for strictly obeying the guidance of the MND, the General Staff and the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army in preparing for the ADMM Retreat.
He stressed that the ADMM Retreat is one of the ASEAN defense-military events when Vietnam is now the Chair of ASEAN in 2020. Gen. Vinh asked relevant agencies and units to continue to embrace the instructions of the MND and higher levels, ensure security and services and be ready to handle unexpected situations during the event.
General Vinh also requested the agencies and units to continue preventing the outbreak of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
* The MND can ensure absolute safety for the ADMM Retreat, said Lieutenant General Le Huy Vinh at a press conference by the MND in Hanoi.
According to General Vinh, the ADMM Retreat is of great importance. It is an opportunity for defense leaders of ASEAN countries to exchange and orient defense cooperation contents in 2020 and the future. This is also a chance for Vietnam to assert its capacity in managing and coordinating ASEAN defense cooperation as the Chair of ASEAN 2020 as well as to promote the image of the country and people to international friends.
Aware of the importance of ASEAN Chairmanship Year 2020 and the ASEAN defense-military activities and conferences, the Vietnamese MND has built plans to ensure absolute security for the event.
Especially, with the complicated developments of the COVID-19, the MND affirmed that the prevention of the disease is one of the most important tasks in ensuring the success of the ADMM Retreat. Accordingly, agencies and units under the MND have built detailed plans to ensure healthcare for delegates at the event.
