Delegates reviewed the preparation and discussed solutions to address remaining problems. They also requested relevant military and civilian agencies and units to complete the pre-deployment preparation so as to meet the deadline for the deployment of the Vietnamese military engineering squad set by the UN.
Delegates also pointed out the fact that Vietnam has to compete with other countries, which have already registered in the Peacekeeping Capability Readiness System (PCRS), in deploying a military engineering squad to a UN peacekeeping mission.
Concluding the meeting, General Chien asked the VNDPKO, the Engineer Corps and relevant agencies and units to build a master plan for the deployment of the military engineering squad to a UN peacekeeping mission, quickly re-register in the PCRS, and provide more foreign language and professional training courses for members of the squad. In addition, they should strengthen the organization of the engineering squad, ensure equipment for training programs as planned, so that the Vietnamese military engineering squad can meet all UN standards and be selected to be deployed to a UN peacekeeping mission.
