During the reception, Vice Admiral Chalermchai Suankaew, Commander of the First Naval Area Command, expressed his pleasure in welcoming the Naval Region 5 delegation of the Vietnam People’s Navy. He also conveyed his sympathy for the losses suffered by the Vietnamese people during the recent floods.

Vice Admiral Chalermchai Suankaew emphasized that in recent years, the Royal Thai Navy’s First Naval Area Command and Vietnam’s Naval Region 5 have effectively coordinated in the implementation of the joint patrol mechanism, maintained smooth communication channels, particularly the hotline, and promptly exchanged information to handle emerging issues in the adjacent waters.
He expressed confidence that built on the long-standing friendship between the two countries, the visit by the Naval Region 5 delegation would further strengthen mutual trust and promote practical cooperation between the Vietnam People’s Navy and the Royal Thai Navy.
On behalf of the delegation, Sr. Capt. Luc Duc Tien thanked the Royal Thai Navy’s First Naval Area Command for the warm and respectful reception. He expressed hope that the two sides would continue to expand exchanges and experience-sharing activities in the future, and maintain timely communication to harmoniously and appropriately address incidents at sea based on cooperation and goodwill.

He also proposed that both sides continue to enhance the effectiveness of joint patrols while combining these activities with communication and outreach efforts to encourage fishermen of both countries to comply strictly with regulations on fisheries exploitation, thereby contributing to security, order, peace, and stability in the Vietnam - Thailand adjacent waters.
As part of the visit, the Naval Region 5 delegation also paid a courtesy call on the Commander of Sattahip Naval Base and toured several scenic and historical sites in the area.
On this occasion, the navies of Vietnam and Thailand organized reciprocal ship visits and sports exchanges.
