Naval Commander hosts Ukrainian defense attaché
PANO - Rear Admiral Pham Manh Hung, Second-in-Command and Chief of the Staff of the Vietnam People’s Navy, hosted a reception for Colonel Sotnichenko Dmytro Viktorovych, Ukrainian defense attaché, who has just started his term of office in Vietnam, on October 27 in Hanoi.
At the reception, Rear Admiral Pham Manh Hung highlighted the traditional relations between Vietnam and Ukraine. He emphasized that generations of the Vietnamese people always bear in their minds the wholehearted support of the Ukrainian people for Vietnam in the struggle for independence and in training numerous Vietnamese officials who have made great contribution to the national construction and development, including those serving in the Vietnam People’s Navy.

According to the Vietnamese naval chief, Vietnam and Ukraine established their diplomatic ties in 1992. In 2011, they lifted their relations to a comprehensive cooperative partnership. Since then, the cooperation between the two countries has been consolidated and strengthened. Attentively, the naval cooperation has reaped positive outcomes, especially in the provision of technical equipment.

The host hoped that the Ukrainian defense attaché will be a bridge to reinforce the defense and naval ties between the two nations, especially in training technicians of ship engine, supplying, repairing, maintaining and transferring technologies related to turbine engine, and sending technical experts to support Vietnamese Navy.

For his part, Colonel Sotnichenko Dmytro Viktorovych thanked the host for the warm reception. He stressed that in his post, he would exert all-out efforts to boost the relationship and cooperation between the two navies as well as to respond to the Vietnamese Navy’s suggestions.
