The visit, which takes place from August 27 to September 15, aims to check the task performance of Level-2 Field Hospital (L2FH) Rotation 5 of Vietnam and maintain the technical equipment of the hospital.

At the working session with the L2FH Rotation 5 in Bentiu, Colonel Thang highly praised the hospital’s personnel for their solidarity, efforts, overcoming of difficulties, and determination to complete all assigned duties, especially their prompt settlement and first duty performances after taking on peacekeeping tasks from the Rotation 4.

He asked the hospital to actively engage in exchanges with international peers, community activities, and support local people, helping beautify the images of friendly Uncle Ho’s soldiers and spread the good images of Vietnamese blue berets.

In Bentiu, technicians in the mission repaired and maintained technical equipment staffed for the field hospital to help to complete their professional tasks in the host country.

During their visit, the Vietnamese mission paid courtesy calls on Force Commander of the U.N. Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) Lieutenant General Mohan Subramanian, Police Commander at UNMISS Christine Fossen.

At the meeting with Lieutenant General Mohan Subramanian in Juba, Colonel Thang expressed thanks to the force leaders and the force commander himself for supporting and creating conditions for Vietnamese peacekeepers to deploy force and perform duties at UNMISS. For his part, the force commander spoke highly of the task implementation of the Vietnamese peacekeeping force and L2FHs. He wished more individual Vietnamese officers will work at the mission.

Expressing her delight at Vietnam’s sending three more police officers to the mission, Police Commander Christine Fossen hoped to receive more in the coming time to assist the presidential election in South Sudan, scheduled to take place later 2024 and early 2025.

At the working sessions with head of Bentiu base and commanding officer of Sector Unity, the two officials highly appreciated the prompt duty reception and task implementation of the L2FH Rotation 5 and thanked Vietnam’s field hospitals for their active contribution to the common efforts to promote the peace process through professional activities and meaningful community support deeds.

The commanding officer of Sector Unity highlighted Vietnam’s field hospitals’ professionalism, saying that Vietnamese units are a reliable partner.

During visits to Mongolian Infantry Battalion, Ghana Police Unit, and Pakistani Engineering Unit, the Vietnamese mission shared experience and hoped to see further coordination between Vietnam’s L2FH Rotation 5 and their units.

At the visit to Mongolian Infantry Battalion

Head of the Mongolian unit said that Mongolian troops, who are present at all hot spots in the locality, had received timely assistance from Vietnamese field hospitals’ doctors. Meanwhile, commanding officer of the Ghana unit Ma’am Sofia Eva underlined the close ties between her unit and Vietnamese L2FH via mutual logistics support activities and others.

In these visits, Colonel Thang thanked foreign units for their support and confirmed that Vietnamese blue berets always accompany them and are willing to strengthen cooperation with them to make more active and effective contribution to the U.N. peacekeeping mission.
