Major Trinh Van Phuong performing at the event

“Phuong’s singing touches my heart. Vietnam has a special culture, and its artists are talented,” said Ramona Martinez.

To the Army Games 2021, Major Phuong chose a popular folk song of the Russian people, titled “Nguoi ban hang rong” (Vendor) that tells a story of a vender girl and a Russian soldier. This song is usually performed by famous singers at important events of the country and the military.

In spite of signing a song in a foreign language, Major Phuong was very confident and contributed a heartfelt performance that touched the audience’s and jury’s hearts.

Talking about his great vocal performance at the event, Phuong said that it was the great pride and love for the nation and the Vietnam People’s Army that have inspired him to fulfill his part. Through the song, he wanted to thank the Vietnamese military servicemen who are protecting the nation and working around the clock in COVID-19-hit localities to contribute to the community’s pandemic prevention and control efforts.

Apart from his great singing voice, experiences from last year’s edition and fluent Russian speaking skill have helped Major Phuong be confident in his performance.  Major Phuong participated in the Army Games 2020 and won a gold and a silver medal. Phuong also has a good command of the Russian language as he studied at Gnesins Russian Academy of Music for five years. Currently, he is a prestigious lecturer at the Military University of Culture and Arts.
