PANO - Rear Admiral Pham Hoai Nam, Commander of the Vietnam People's Navy (VPN) on August 8th received visiting Admiral Tan Sri Dato Ahmad Kamarulzaman bin Hj Ahmad Badaruddin, Chief of the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) at the VPN's headquarters.

At the meeting after the welcoming ceremony, the host proposed that the two sides lift bilateral ties between the two navies to a higher level,  establish consultation mechanisms for officers, and communication channels between the two sides, organize joint patrol at sea, young officer exchange, and English training courses for Vietnamese naval officers. Rear Admiral Pham Hoai Nam believed that the two navies would ratchet their solidarity up to ensure peace in the East Sea on the basis of international law and the Declaration on Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC).

For his part, the Malaysian naval chief agreed with the guest's ideas and affirmed that he would direct RMN's relevant agencies to well prepare for the signing of a cooperation agreement on communications and joint maritime patrols, contributing to maintaining peace and stability in the region and the world.
