In an interview granted to the press, the Lao Ambassador recalled that the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries were established by President Ho Chi Minh, President Kaysone Phomvihane and President Souphanouvong, and nurtured by generations of leaders of the two parties, the two states and the two peoples. It has become an invaluable common asset of the two parties and two peoples, and a factor ensuring the existence and development of the two countries, he added.

Vietnam and Laos have always given great, wholehearted and effective support to each other in the national struggle for independence in the past as well as in the current national construction and development, he noted.
The ambassador went on to say that the two sides have always given support to each other, created favorable conditions for each other to develop economy, contributing to the prosperity of each country as well as peace, stability, cooperation in the region and the world.
He said, “Amid the complicated developments of the regional and global situations, I am delighted and proud to see that the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos have been increasingly reinforced and strengthened in a more practical and effective manner in all walk of life.”
Particularly, the two countries have given both spiritual and material support to each other to fight the COVID-19 pandemic and recover socio-economic development.
The ambassador stated that the defense ties constitute an important pillar of the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos. He affirmed that the two sides have closely cooperated to cope with security threats, maintain political and security stability of each country, and build a shared borderline of peace, friendship, cooperation and sustainable development.
Vietnam is the first nation to help Laos with both medical supplies and experts and the Vietnam People’s Army provided sincere and prompt support when the COVID-19 pandemic broke out in the country in the context that Vietnam was also dealing with the pandemic. The assistance has significantly contributed to the pandemic prevention and control in Laos, displaying a close relationship between the two militaries and two peoples. He firmly believed that this will continue to be the mainstream of the Vietnam-Laos defense cooperation in the future.
Regarding the upcoming border defense friendship exchange, he noted that the event is meaningful to the bilateral defense ties. It will contribute to promoting practical cooperation between the two sides’ border guards and people in the shared border area as well as build the Vietnam-Laos borderline of peace, friendship, stability, cooperation, and development.
