At the reception, General Tan affirmed that Vietnam always treasures the strategic partnership with Indonesia and considers it a premise to strengthen the bilateral defense cooperation in different fields in an intensive and effective manner.
He said that over the past time, despite the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, the two sides have carried out many defense cooperation activities on the basis of inked agreements in an active, pro-active and flexible fashion.
Congratulating Colonel Ilham Army Ritonga on the fulfillment of his tenure in Vietnam, the Vietnamese deputy chief of the General Staff acknowledged and highly appreciated the Indonesian diplomat’s contribution to effectively strengthening the bilateral defense cooperation in line with each country’s demand and capability.
General Tan also congratulated Colonel Dian Tri Hutanto on being appointed as Indonesian Defense Attaché to Vietnam and affirmed that Vietnam’s Defense Ministry will create favorable conditions for him to fulfill his assigned missions, contributing to promoting the bilateral defense cooperation in a sustainable, comprehensive and effective manner.

The Vietnamese official expected that Colonel Dian Tri Hutanto will continue carrying out defense cooperation contents with a focus on exchanging of delegations, maintaining available cooperation mechanisms, promoting collaboration between arms and services and fostering cooperation in training, military medicine, humanitarian assistance, disaster relief and COVID-19 pandemic prevention and control.
For his part, Colonel Ilham Army Ritonga thanked the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense for supporting and creating favorable conditions for him to fulfill his duties in Vietnam. He also expressed delight at the fruitful development of the bilateral defense cooperation in such fields as training, collaboration between arms and services and establishment of cooperation mechanisms, including the Defense Policy Dialogue at the deputy ministerial level.
The outgoing diplomat affirmed that in any positions in the future, he will continue paying attention to fostering defense cooperation between Vietnam and Indonesia. He also hoped that the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense will support and create favorable conditions for Colonel Dian Tri Hutanto to fulfill his duties as Indonesian Defense Attaché to Vietnam.
