Vietnam, Indonesia promote naval cooperation
PANO - The mission of the Vietnam Naval Academy on the sailing Vessel 286 – Le Quy Don, led by Naval Captain Nguyen Duc Nam, Deputy Director of the Academy, on May 2 paid a courtesy call on leaders of Jakarta city, Indonesia.
At the meeting, Sutanto Soehodo, Deputy Governor of Jakarta city expressed his delight at receiving the Vietnamese delegation, and introduced them to general features of Jakarta.
He said Jakarta and some big cities of Vietnam have a lot of similarities so they can cooperate and share experience in development.
For his part, Naval Captain Nam hoped that on the basis of the strategic partnership between the two countries, Vietnam and Indonesia’s militaries and navies would continue to promote exchange and cooperation in a more effective manner.

The same day, the delegation visited the Indonesian Navy's First Fleet. Both sides affirmed that the cooperative relationship between the two militaries in general, and two navies in particular has developed positively over the past years. They also agreed to continue to effectively implement more cooperation activities in the time to come, especially in the field of information exchange.
The Vietnamese delegation also paid a courtesy visit to local authorities' representatives of North Jakarta, and commander of Base 3 under the Indonesian Navy's First Fleet.
Earlier, a solemn ceremony to welcome the Vessel 286 – Le Quy Don was organized at Tanjung Priok port in Jakarta on May 1.
