The ship was welcomed by Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City’s People’s Committee Ngo Minh Chau, Indian External Affairs Minister Subramanyam Jaishankar and representatives of the Naval Command, the Naval Region 2 Command, the Department of External Affairs of Ho Chi Minh City, the Department of Foreign Relations of the Ministry of National Defense, and other organs of Ho Chi Minh City.

At the welcome ceremony, both Vietnamese and Indian officials spoke highly of the bilateral defense relations in general and port calls made by the naval forces of the two countries over the past time in particular.

As scheduled, the officers and sailors of the Indian ship will pay floral tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at his monument, pay a courtesy call on the Chain-of-Command of Naval Region 2 and visit a number of relic sites and well-known landscapes in the city. The delegation will also participate in a joint training session with the naval force of Vietnam.

This visit of the Indian naval ship will contribute to strengthening cooperation between the militaries of the two countries and further tightening relations between Vietnam and India.

The INS Sudarshini was commissioned into the Indian Navy in 2012. The ship is 54m long and features 20 sails with a total area of 1,035sq.m, built to operate worldwide either by its sails or engine.
