At the talks, Vice Admiral Tran Thanh Nghiem expressed the delight at welcoming the Commander of the Indian Navy to Vietnam and affirmed the continuous and substantial development of the fine friendship and cooperation between the two countries, defense ministries, and navies in all fields.

Highlighting the positive outcomes of the cooperation between the two navies over the past time, the Vietnamese naval chief said that the Vietnam visit of the Indian delegation was a clear proof of the close cooperative relationship between the two sides. He also laid stress on the Indian Navy’s support to the VPN in such fields as training, consultation, and fixing of ships’ problems. 

Vice Admiral Tran Thanh Nghiem thanked the Indian naval chief and the Indian Navy for the sincere sentiment as well as wholehearted and effective support to the VPN over the past time. He believed that the successful India visit of the Vietnamese Defense Minister in June and the ongoing visit of the Indian naval commander would open a new cooperation direction for the two militaries and navies.

For his part, the Indian official expressed delight at visiting Vietnam and witnessing the development of the S-shaped country and thanked the host for the solemn and thoughtful welcome and sincere sentiment.

Admiral Hari Kumar affirmed that the recent meetings between naval commanders of the two countries have contributed to consolidating the close friendship between the two naval forces and wished to welcome the Vietnamese naval commander to India in the near future.

Reaffirming the wish to strengthen cooperation with the VPN in different fields, Admiral Hari Kumar believed that through the visit, the two sides would exchange and discuss measures to further bolster the relationship between the two navies in the coming time. 

At the event, the two sides also affirmed the potential for cooperation between Vietnamese and Indian navies in areas of mutual interest and needs and said that the exchanges of naval delegations would positively contribute to strengthening bilateral defense relations in an effective and practical manner.

Within the framework of the visit, the Indian chief paid respect to President Ho Chi Minh at his Mausoleum, visited the Naval Academy, and toured some historical and cultural relic sites and landscapes in Hanoi, Hai Phong, and Quang Ninh.
