The event was attended by Vietnamese Deputy Defense Minister Sr. Lt. Gen. Hoang Xuan Chien and Indian Ambassador to Vietnam Pranay Verma.
The aid was given to help the Vietnamese defense ministry implement the project on building an information technology (IT) system under the Military Software Park at the Telecommunications University under the Signal Corps.

Speaking at the event, Sr. Lt. Gen. Hoang Xuan Chien stressed that the Vietnam-India comprehensive strategic partnership has been increasingly developing in various fields, including the defense sector.
The bilateral defense ties have been constantly reinforced and strengthened in a practical and effective manner, he added.
Amid the complicated developments of the COVID-19 pandemic, General Chien suggested the two military medical forces enhance collaboration and experience sharing, help each other to access COVID-19 vaccine sources, and transfer of COVID-19 vaccine technology through the defense channel.
On behalf of the Vietnamese defense ministry, the deputy minister thanked the Indian Government for the USD-5-million non-refundable aid, and affirmed that the assistance will significantly contribute to improving the capacity of the IT and Foreign Language Center under the Telecommunications University in particular and developing Vietnam’s high-quality human resources on IT and foreign languages in general.
He noted that the Vietnamese defense ministry will pay close attention and direct the project to ensure the best results and believed that the success of the project will contribute to accelerating the bilateral defense ties in particular and the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries in general.
For his part, Ambassador Pranay Verma thanked the Vietnamese defense ministry for giving medical supplies to help the Indian people to fight COVID-19. He hoped that both sides will support each other in the COVID-19 vaccination campaign and expand cooperation in the IT sector in the time to come.
