Gen. Son affirmed that Vietnam and Cambodia are neighbors and the two peoples have a traditional relation of long-lasting friendship. Moreover, senior leaders of the two countries always treasure and attach importance to further preserving, consolidating and cultivating the ties.
Regarding the implementation of the cooperative plan between the two defense ministries in 2023, Gen. Son said that since the beginning of this year, both sides successfully organized significant events, including the official visit to Vietnam of Cambodia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister and the 6th Vietnam-Cambodia Defense Policy Dialogue, while maintaining bilateral patrols to protect the borderline and ensure political security, social order and safety, to name but a few.

The Vietnamese GS’s deputy chief highly appreciated the positive cooperation results that the two countries’ Departments of Operations have recorded over the past time.
In the time to come, he required the two departments to strengthen coordination and direct the implementation of tasks set out in the cooperation plan for 2023 agreed by the two defense ministries. Additionally, they should closely work together to maintain security and order in border areas while enhancing training and assistance for each other.
He affirmed that Vietnam always supports and creates all favorable conditions for the two departments to intensify cooperation, contributing to further deepening defense cooperation between the two countries.
For his part, Lieutenant General Nim Balen thanked the Vietnamese side for the warm welcome, informing the host of the outcomes of the talks between his delegation with the delegation of the Vietnamese GS’s Operations Department.

In particular, the two sides discussed important cooperation contents in the coming time and agreed to coordinate in implementing activities for 2023, including counter-terrorism exercises, the border defense friendship exchange between Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia slated for the end of this year, and the search for and collection of remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers who sacrificed while carrying out international missions in Cambodia, among others.
Gen. Nim Balen hoped that the two sides will maintain cooperation and mutual support to contribute to boosting friendship between the militaries and people for peace and stability in the region.
