During the conversation, Gen. Giang thanked the Chinese CMC and Ministry of National Defense for the solemn reception for the Vietnamese delegation attending the 11th Beijing Xiangshan Forum. He was impressed by the scale of the forum and expressed confidence that it would be successful, thus contributing to promoting dialogue and building trust among participants.

Gen. Giang emphasized the Vietnamese Party and State’s consistent viewpoint of considering the development of relations with China an objective necessity, a strategic choice, and a top priority in its foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralization and diversification of relations. He reiterated that the Vietnamese CMC and the Ministry of National Defense highly value the friendship and cooperation with the Chinese CMC and Ministry of National Defense and are ready to work with China to implement the important perception reached by the leaders of the two parties and countries, in promoting defense and security cooperation in a more substantive manner.

Welcoming the Vietnamese Defense Minister and delegation, Sr. Lt. Gen. Zhang Youxia affirmed that China treasures its traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership with Vietnam. He stressed that the recent activities carried out by the two countries’ armed forces have contributed to actualizing the common perception between the two countries’ top leaders.

The two sides agreed that alongside the positive developments in relations between the two parties and countries, defense cooperation between Vietnam and China has been actively promoted. The bilateral ties have been shown through various practical activities, including high-level delegation exchanges, education and training cooperation, collaboration between arms and services, maritime law enforcement, border management, joint research, and academic exchanges.

They agreed to continue maintaining and strengthening reached cooperation areas, contributing to deepening the traditional friendship between the two parties, countries in general and two militaries in particular.

On this occasion, the Vietnamese defense leader invited leaders of the Chinese CMC and Ministry of National Defense to attend the 80th anniversary of the foundation day of the Vietnam People's Army and the 2nd Vietnam International Defense Expo in Hanoi in December 2024.
