At the meeting with Mongolian counterpart, the two defense ministers stressed that the cooperation contents between the two countries have brought about practical outcomes on the basis of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on bilateral defense cooperation signed in 2013 and the two government’s agreement on defense cooperation signed in 2019.
To promote the bilateral defense cooperation on par with the potential and relations of the two countries, apart from actively implementing cooperation contents regulated in the aforementioned MoU and agreement, the two defense chiefs agreed to strengthen cooperation in delegation exchange, training, culture and arts, military sports, sharing of experience in U.N. peacekeeping operations and seek cooperation in fields that match with the two sides’ needs, such as defense industry, logistics, among others.
At the meeting with Australian Minister for Defense Richard Donald Marles, General Giang confirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to its strategic partnership with Australia with defense ties as one of the important pillars in the two countries’ relations.
The two defense chiefs evaluated that over the past time, the defense cooperation between Vietnam and Australia has been carried out effectively in line with the MoU on bilateral defense ties signed in 2010 and the Declaration on Joint Visions for Enhancing Defense Cooperation inked in 2018.

Both defense ministers stressed that the bilateral defense ties have reaped remarkable achievements in exchange of delegation, consultation-dialogue, training, U.N. peacekeeping operations, navy, air force, intelligence, anti-terrorism, to name but a few.
The Vietnamese minister highly appreciated the effective partnership with Australia in English language training and U.N. peacekeeping operations.
In the coming time, the two sides consented to continue to maintain and accelerate the bilateral defense cooperation with a focus on delegation exchange, particularly high-ranking delegations, training, U.N. peacekeeping operations, and increasing the efficiency of consultation and dialogue mechanisms.
Regarding multilateral cooperation, the two sides stressed that they are responsible members of the ASEAN Defense Ministers’ Meeting Plus (ADMM+) and have regularly consulted with and supported each other in regional forums.
Also at the meeting, Vietnamese and Australian defense ministers exchanged regional and international situations and other issues of common concern.
