During the meeting with Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, both defense ministers agreed that the outcomes of the Vietnamese defense minister’s visit to India last June have been actively implemented, paving the way for bilateral defense cooperation. They will also boost delegation exchange at all levels, especially at high levels; maintain and raise the quality of dialogue and consultation mechanisms, including the 14th defense policy dialogue at the deputy minister level in India, and closely work together to successfully organize the 4th United Nations (U.N.) Joint Peacekeeping Exercise in Vietnam next December.

Meanwhile, the Vietnamese and Filipino defense top officials were committed to actively joining hands to implement the agreed contents in bilateral cooperation, and supporting each other in multilateral military-defense forums and conferences, and maintaining consensus through the ASEAN common stance on regional issues.

During the reception for Japan’s State Minister of Defense Hiroyuki Miyazawa, General Phan Van Giang underscored that the Vietnam - Japan bilateral defense cooperation has reached important achievements over the past time. Especially, last September, the two sides coordinated to successfully organize the competency evaluation for prospective peacekeeper program 2023 (CEPPP-2023) under the ADMM+ Experts’ Working Group on Peacekeeping Operations.

In the coming time, both sides will beef up delegation exchange between defense high-ranking leaders, boost cooperation among forces and in education and training, cyber-security, overcoming war aftermath, among others.
