At the meeting, the Vietnamese defense chief congratulated Cambodia on successfully organizing important diplomacy, military and defense events during its ASEAN Chairmanship Year 2022.

Given that the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense freshly concluded the first-ever Vietnam International Defense Expo 2022, General Phan Van Giang expressed thanks to and highly appreciated the Cambodian Ministry of National Defense and the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces for sending a high-level delegation to the event, contributing to its overall success.

The host also underlined that in the “Vietnam - Cambodia, Cambodia - Vietnam Friendship Year 2022” in celebration of the 55th anniversary of the two countries’ diplomatic ties (June 24, 1967 - 2022), the two ministries of national defense have jointly organized a number of practical activities, including the celebrations of 45 years of Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen’s “Journey to overthrow the Pol Pol genocidal regime” and the organization of the first Vietnam - Cambodia border defense friendship exchange. These activities have left deep impressions on the two countries’ peoples.

He also highly praised the close coordination between authorized agencies of the two sides over the past time and confirmed that the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense always supports and creates all favorable conditions for it, thereby further deepening the fruitful neighborliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, long-term sustainability of the two countries.

For his part, General Sante Chan Ean thanked his host for the reception. He conveyed Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sar Kheng’s regards to the Vietnamese Minister of National Defense.

The Cambodian general spoke highly of the outcomes of the two sides’ functional agencies’ cooperation in the past. He took this chance to thank the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense and the host himself for their thoughtfulness and support for the Cambodian side.
