At the meeting, Gen. Phan Van Giang confirmed that Vietnam and Laos are close neighbors with traditional solidarity and mutual support in different historical periods.
Vietnam attaches importance to and constantly consolidates and develops the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation with Laos, the Vietnamese defense chief stressed.
He believed that under the leadership of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP), Lao people will continue to overcome difficulties and challenges to reap more achievements in the renewal cause, victoriously realize the resolution adopted at the 11th National Congress of the LPRP and successfully build a socialist country of peace, independence, democracy, unity and prosperity.
The host expressed his delight at the fact that many high-ranking retired officers of the two militaries have participated and held important positions in the leadership board of the Lao Veterans Federation and the Vietnam War Veterans’ Association Central Committee.
Also at the meeting, General Phan Van Giang highlighted the comprehensive, practical, effective development in the bilateral defense ties over the past time, particularly in Party and political work, personnel training, exchange of delegations, experts, border protection, among others.
The Vietnamese defense leader said that since the beginning of this year, the two sides have jointly organized various meaningful activities, including the third Vietnam - Laos defense policy dialogue in Houaphanh, Laos in March, the study of Ho Chi Minh Trail Relic in April, and the search and gather of remains of Vietnamese volunteer troops fallen in wartime in Laos.

General Phan Van Giang confirmed that the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense always pays attention to and supports the cooperation between the two veteran agencies, especially in delegation exchange, dissemination of information about the special friendship between the two countries and militaries.
He hoped that in the coming time, the Lao Veterans Federation and the Vietnam War Veterans’ Association Central Committee will continue to be a bridge of friendship for the two countries’ veterans, popularize and educate their members, their members’ families, and young generations of the two nations about the history, meaning, importance of the relations and close solidarity between the two countries and militaries.

Sending thanks to the host for the reception, Sr. Lt. Gen. Sengnouane Xayalath briefed him on the outcomes of the working session between his federation and the Vietnamese counterpart, during which they shared experience and discussed cooperation contents in the 2022-2027 period.
The Lao official expressed his hope that the Vietnamese Party, State, military, and veterans’ association will continue their care and support for the Lao Veterans Federation in the time ahead.
