At the reception, Lieutenant General Tran Hoai Trung, Party Secretary and Political Commissar of Military Region 7, congratulated the Cambodian diplomat on his new position. Trung hoped that in his new position, the Cambodian Consul General to Ho Chi Minh City will contribute to strengthening the Vietnam-Cambodia friendship and cooperation as well as cooperation between units of Vietnam's Military Region 7 and the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces.
He recalled that over the past time Military Region 7 and units of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces have effectively promoted cooperation in delegation exchange, education, military medicine, military equipment maintenance, and in the search and collection of remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and advisors who had sacrificed during wars in Cambodia. The achievements in different cooperation fields between Vietnamese and Cambodian military units symbolize the solidarity between Vietnam and Cambodia, Trung added.
For his part, the Cambodian Consul General thanked the Vietnamese Party, Government, Army, and people for helping the Cambodian people drive foreign invaders out of the country, overthrow the Khmer Rouge genocidal regime, and rebuild the country. He emphasized that friendship and cooperation are the treasure for the development of the two countries. The Cambodian diplomat also hoped that Military Region 7’s armed forces will fulfill all assigned missions and the Vietnam-Cambodia solidarity would last forever.
