The two sides at the meeting |
The regiment was founded on December 19, 1975 to meet the requirement of Fatherland construction and protection in the new period. The unit surmounted difficulties in infrastructure, organization, personnel, and materiel on the first days of its establishment to complete all assignments with the spirit of self-reliance, activeness, and creativeness.
Especially in late October 1984, the regiment was tasked to help Cambodian people escape from the Pol Pot genocidal regime and join hands with former Soviet experts to train first helicopter pilots for Cambodia.
Since 2013, it has trained seven Cambodian pilots with some of them having become key pilots of the Cambodian helicopter force. With its achievements, the regiment has been awarded with numerous local titles, awards, and presented with Angkor Order of Cambodia. In recent years, promoting its tradition, the regiment has outstandingly completed their duties, contributing to firmly safeguard the air, national sovereignty over sea and islands.
