Xin Cai Border Post under the Ha Giang provincial Border Guard Command holds talks with Heping and Tianpeng Sub-stations of Tianbao Border Checkpoint. |
Son Vi Border Post is responsible for managing border areas adjacent to China’s Yunnan and Guangxi provinces, covering a length of 17.457 kilometers. Son Vi commune consists of 19 villages, including 9 directly bordering China. The area is home to 10 ethnic minority groups, with Hmong people accounting for approximately 80% of the population.
Over the past time, thanks to the attention of the Party and State, the socio-economic situation has gradually improved and the living standards of local people have considerably increased. However, during the progress of development, the commune has faced numerous difficulties and challenges. Among them are the rugged mountainous area, the uneven people's educational level, and the border guard force is still thin while the tasks of national defense, security, and foreign affairs to protect the border are increasingly demanding and numerous.
Learning about the situation, Son Vi Border Post has strictly grasped guidelines and policies on external affairs of the Party, the State, the Central Military Commission, and the Ministry of National Defense to effectively implement border defense external work, considering them a key solution for protecting security and order in border areas and safeguarding national sovereignty, as well as building solidarity and friendship among border protection forces, local authorities, and people on both sides of the shared borderline.

The unit has promoted its advisory role to higher levels in the organization of twinning activities and exchanges between both sides of the border.
According to Major Nguyen Cong Son, commanding officer of Son Vi Border Post, understanding the importance of border defense external affairs in the era of integration and development, over the past years, the unit has focused on raising the efficiency of the work and strengthening friendship and cooperation with China’s border protection force. Both sides have regularly exchanged information and effectively utilized the hotline system to address arising issues in border areas, combated various types of crimes, and timely detected and prevented illegal activities. In addition, the unit has regularly maintained contact and exchanged expertise in external affairs related to border management and protection.
In the time to come, the unit will continue to maintain good relations between the two countries’ functional forces on border management, focusing on the leadership and direction of task implementation, especially border defense external affairs, contributing to firmly protecting national sovereignty and border security.
