Ship 015 - Tran Hung Dao of the Vietnam People’s Navy participated in all contents of the event, contributing to the success of the AMNEX-2.
During the exercise, there were nine ships and four helicopters of ASEAN countries from the host country Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Brunei, and Vietnam. They were divided into two tactical groups, namely Barracuda and Marlin. The ships practiced according to a designated scenario as a passenger ship carrying a large number of passengers (684 people) was in distress at sea. With the command of the Philippines’ naval ship, participating ships of ASEAN countries worked together to conduct search and rescue operations at the scene.
During the AMNEX-2, they also joined training on communications and networking scenarios with the Information Sharing Center (IFC) in Singapore. IFC with modern satellite navigation equipment helped boost information sharing among ships during the exercise.
Accordingly, ships in the tactical groups conducted various contents, including checking communication among ships, maritime search and rescue task, aerial formation photographing, helicopter takeoff and landing, electricity and electrical deciphering, electricity and electrical deciphering, and light communication, among others.
The 015 - Tran Hung Dao, together with vessels in the formation, continuously moved within the 30x30 nautical mile exercise area to both follow the formation and detect targets, then reported to the commanding ship according to the exercise scenario. The Vietnamese ship met all task requirements, ensured speed and time of movements with absolute safety. It also acted as the commanding ship in the two contents of electricity and electrical deciphering, and light communication.
The scenario of the AMNEX-2 exercise was close to the challenges facing ASEAN countries, in the context of increasing maritime security challenges and threats. The exercise concluded successfully and met all set targets, contributing to promoting cooperation and cooperation ability in response to maritime security and safety issues.
