The task force comprises senior officials from the Government and state-owned enterprises, including standing deputy head of the Government Office Dang Xuan Phong, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Phan Thi Thang, Deputy Minister of Finance Do Thanh Trung, Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyen Xuan Sang, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Hoang Trung, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Hang, Chairman of the Vietnam National Industry - Energy Group Le Ngoc Son, Chairman of the Vietnam Electricity’s Board of Directors Dang Hoang An, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vietnam National Coal - Mineral Industries Group Ngo Hoang Ngan, and Chairman of the Board of Management of the Vietnam National Petroleum Group Pham Van Thanh.
The body is charged with continuous monitoring, assessment and forecasting of global and regional energy market developments, overseeing policy enforcement, and swiftly clearing bottlenecks to ensure adequate fuel supplies for industrial production, trade and household consumption.
It will also study and propose directions, solutions, mechanisms and policies to break barriers, make timely and flexible policy responses to avoid any disruption to national energy security. Issues beyond its authority must be reported to the PM.
The task force may undertake additional energy-security assignments as instructed by the PM.
It is empowered to request ministries and agencies to provide reports, data and documentation, invite leaders of ministries and agencies to attend its meetings, and exercise other powers delegated by the PM.
Regular and unscheduled reports on its activities will be submitted to the PM, with the Ministry of Industry and Trade designated as the standing body. The task force will disband upon completion of its assigned duties.
The decision took effect upon signing on March 4.
