Japanese businesses are looking for Vietnamese suppliers of safe farm produce. |
A representative from the company, Hatakeyama Motonobu, said “We are looking for suppliers who can provide us high-quality products besides meeting requirements of sustainable production”.
The products will be sold in its stores in both Vietnam and Japan, he added.
Home Center Kohnan, established in 1978, is now a leading supplier of household appliances in Japan. It entered the Vietnamese market in 2016. Meanwhile, Vietnamese wood and plastic production sector is valued at billions of USD, with wooden exports to Japan in the first 10 months of the year reaching USD 1.13 billion, up USD 100 million against the same time last year.
Regarding the agricultural sector, the owner of Japanese Nosui Corporation has travelled to Vietnam 30 times to seek suppliers of safe agricultural products.
The company has partnered with Hien Le Trading and Service Co., Ltd. in Hanoi for a year, supporting the Vietnamese firm with advanced farming techniques.
“We do not have to worry much about finding consumption markets as we have clean products which satisfy the stringent criteria of the importers. After three years pouring capital into clean agriculture, our work has borne fruit, with several contracts inked to export tropical farm produce to choosy markets like Japan and the UK,” Nguyen Thi Bao Hien, director of Hien Le said.
The firm is rushing to harvest 20 hectares of soybeans for processing before export to Japan, with its main importer being Nosui Corporation.
