BP Singapore Pte.Ltd, an affiliate of the BP Group on August 10th received 5,800 cubic meters of the jet fuel named Jet A1, produced at the Dung Quat Oil Refinery Plant and exported to Singapore.
According to a representative from the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam), this is the first time Vietnam has exported this kind of fuel, which Vietnam had had to import in the past.
Mr. Nguyen Hoai Giang, CEO of the Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical Co. Ltd., unveiled that the Dung Quat Oil Refinery Plant in Quang Ngai province produced more than 6 billion tons of different oil and petrol products annually on average. The plant would keep the production of Jet A1 between 200,000 tons and 400,000 tons according to the demands of the market.
“The made-in-Vietnam Jet A1 meets both the US international ASTM Standards and British DEFSTAN standards. The BP Group’s decision to purchase the first batch of Jet A1 from the Dung Quat Oil Refinery Plant proved that the quality of the product has been accepted by the international community”, he added.
The national flag carrier, Vietnam Airlines, is now in the process of negotiate with the Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical Co. Ltd. to buy locally produced Jet A1 to fuel its planes, along with other international airlines that have flights to Vietnam.
