Under this program, the two signatories will jointly do research and produce new technical equipment, especially hi-tech ones. They will also improve, modernize, and repair existing equipment to serve the Naval Service’s operation.

The program will closely follow the directions, goals and viewpoints of the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense be suitable to Viettel's ability and capacity and the need to ensure technical equipment of the Naval Service.

Witnessing the signing ceremony, Deputy Defense Minister Senior Lieutenant General Pham Hoai Nam directed the two sides to have close coordination, speed up the process of mastering and equipping the Navy with modern technical equipment. He also highlighted the program, saying that it would help the Navy improve and ensure good technical conditions of its assigned equipment to meet operational requirements in the new situation.

Speaking highly of high quality of Viettel products which is equivalent to that of the Vietnamese Navy’s assigned modern defense products produced internationally, Chief of the Naval Service Rear Admiral Tran Thanh Nghiem emphasized that the Naval Service puts their trust in Viettel in modernizing the Navy’s hi-tech technical equipment.

In his speech, Viettel’s Chairman and General Director Senior Colonel Tao Duc Thang proudly said that over the past time, Viettel has proved its self-reliance and pro-activeness in international cooperation in research and production of defense products. Senior Colonel Thang added that Viettel has gradually built up modern and comprehensive facilities and infrastructure and high-quality human resources to serve the development of hi-tech defense industry.

According to the Viettel’s chief, the group has mastered the production system of more than 40 types of weapons and hi-tech equipment for the navy, army and air defense - air force service. In the coming time, it will continue to develop new equipment which is smarter, more accurate, more reliable, applying core Industry 4.0 technology to meet modern combat requirements of the Naval Service in particular and of the military in general.
