The information was released at a ceremony held by the Viettel Sports Center on February 21 to see off players to the 2022 tournament. This year, Viettel FC will renew its squad with young players who have been trained at its center. The team has nine young faces from the U-21 squad.
At the ceremony, Senior Colonel Tao Duc Thang, Chairman and General Director of the Military Industry-Telecoms Group (Viettel), affirmed that the club set the target to be in the top three and compete for the championship while heading to the final of the National Cup 2022. He added that the club is determined to be in the top eight of the AFC Cup 2022. For the young-level tournaments, the five teams of the club target to have three teams playing in the finals and two teams in the top three.
To achieve these challenging goals, the club will continue to focus on improving physical health for players. The club has signed a two-year contract with Bae Jiwon, an experienced coach from the Republic of Korea. The club also has Geovane Mango, a top foreign striker of V.League and Jakhongir Abdumuminov, a Uzbekistanian player, in the squad.

Talking about the opening match of the club this season, Captain Bui Tien Dung held that the game with Binh Dinh FC on February 2 is a real challenge for Viettel FC. However, Viettel beat Binh Dinh in the previous season by Hoang Duc’s goal; therefore, he believed his team will have a good result at Quy Nhon Stadium, he stressed.
During the ceremony, Viettel FC also introduced new sponsors and partners, including the Military Commercial Joint- Stock Bank (MB), Bamboo Airways, Li-Ning and MCV.
The MB presented VND 2 billion to Viettel FC at the event and pledged to continue accompanying the club this season. Bamboo Airways will be the official transportation sponsor for Viettel FC while Li-Ning is the kit sponsor and MCV Group is the sponsor for advertising.
