The price Viettel offered was more than VND 1,955 billion, which is equivalent to the global average. This is the fourth time Viettel has participated in the 700MHz frequency band auction. Owning this frequency block is of great significance to Viettel, as it will help the group expand its coverage to 99% of the population by 2030.

With its long-distance transmission and high accessibility characteristics, the B2 – B2' frequency block of the 700MHz band not only effectively covers rural, mountainous, and remote areas as well as national highways, but is also suitable for telecommunications signals to penetrate high-rise buildings and reach hard-to-access urban locations.
According to technical research, the coverage radius of this frequency block is 1.8 times greater than that of the 1,800MHz band, helping Viettel optimize costs and save thousands of billions of VND compared to using existing frequency bands to cover difficult areas. It also enhances the user experience. This frequency block has been allocated by the Ministry of Science and Technology for the deployment of mobile information systems in accordance with the IMT-Advanced (4G) standard and its subsequent versions.
Major General Tao Duc Thang, Chairman and General Director of Viettel Group, stated: “Owning the B2 – B2' frequency block of the 700MHz band through this auction is extremely important and timely for Viettel to implement Resolution No. 57 of the Politburo, which aims to build a high-speed, safe, and reliable digital infrastructure platform. This platform will connect people, government, and businesses, accelerating the application of digital technologies in all aspects of life, from urban to rural areas.”
Using the B2 – B2’ frequency block of the 700MHz band, Viettel will deploy 4G/5G mobile broadband internet services, offering high speeds and low latency to support entertainment, remote work and online learning, Internet of Things services, and platforms such as smart cities, smart agriculture, and intelligent traffic management. Viettel will promptly build a new integrated frequency infrastructure, aiming to provide the best 5G network with more than 20,000 base stations by December 31, 2025.
