The program, held from January 28 to February 9 on the occasion of the 2019 lunar New Year festival (Tet), recorded over 90 million times ViettelPay subscribers played.

Around 17 million different prizes as lucky spring gifts were offered to lucky customers. Among them, the luckiest, Nong Trung Hai from Lam Thuong commune, Luc Yen district, Yen Bai province, received 1kg of 9999 gold worth over VND 1 billion.

At the awarding ceremony, Hai shared that it was like a dream. He told his relatives and friends about the prize he won, but nobody believed him at first. He was sure to win the prize when a Viettel staff called him to confirm the win.

The lucky man added that he does not have a bank account as there is no bank in his village. Thus, he uses only ViettelPay to conduct banking transactions and top up mobile phones of his family members.

Launched on June 29, 2018, ViettelPay is a digital banking application for customers to transfer money, receive payments, and pay electricity bills and air tickets at anytime, anywhere in an absolutely safe way.

At present, ViettelPay has nearly 3.7 million users and around 200,000 transaction locations across 63 provinces and cities nationwide, ten times more than the total number of ATMs in the country.

Especially thanks to efforts of ViettelPay employees working overtime during the Tet holidays, the service helped reduce overload at ATMs.

Last year, ViettelPay was presented with the gold medal in the business service, finance and marketing category at the annual Asia Pacific Information Communications Technology Awards (APICTA) in 2018. APICTA is considered as the OSCAR award to honor outstanding information and telecommunication technology products and services from 16 member economies in the sector in the Asia Pacific region

Notably, ViettelPay has become the number-one free application on iOS and Android operating systems, with nearly 1 million downloads per day, even surpassing Facebook and YouTube.
