Delivering his speech, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing underlined that the event marks a milestone in the relationship and cooperation between Vietnam and Myanmar in information and communications technology (ICT). He also believed that Mytel will successfully operate in Myanmar and contribute to the development of telecommunications and high quality human resources for the country.

Meanwhile, Mytel CEO Nguyen Thanh Nam affirmed that Mytel’s goals are to create a real information highway with extensive 4G infrastructure in order to empower local people and Myanmar in Industry 4.0. Viettel always strives, as evidenced by its presence in other international markets, to be the first-ranked in mobile networks, which will in turn improve significantly the international telecoms infrastructure in the country in which they are investing.

As the fourth network in the Myanmar market, Mytel aims to be the top operator in both infrastructure and business in the near future. Consequently, in the first year of operation, Mytel has installed over 7,000 4G base transceiver stations (BTS) with more than 30,000km optical-fiber cables covering the whole country.

The group is also announcing a free roaming charge for Mytel’s customers who call from Vietnam to Myanmar or vice versa while roaming in either country, forming a region of four countries (Vietnam, Myanmar, Laos and Cambodia) without international roaming charges, if they use Viettel’s mobile network.
