Viettel Group has new chairman and general director
PANO - Senior Colonel Tao Duc Thang, Deputy General Director of the Military Industry-Telecoms Group (Viettel) will be the new chairman and general director of Viettel starting January 1, 2022, according to the Prime Minister’s Decision No.2200 signed on December 25 by Permanent Deputy PM Pham Binh Minh.

Senior Colonel Tao Duc Thang will replace Major General Le Dang Dung, acting Chairman and General Director of Viettel who will retire from January 1, 2022 according to another decision signed the same day by the Prime Minister.
Born in 1973, Senior Colonel Tao Duc Thang, a native of Thanh Hoa province, holds a master degree on electronics and telecommunications.
He has held the position as the group’s Deputy General Director since August 2015.
Joining Viettel in 2005, Senior Colonel Thang has experienced many positions, including Deputy Director of Viettel Telecom Corporation (Viettel Telecom), Director of Viettel Networks Corporation (VTNet), General Director of Viettel Network Corporation, General Director of Viettel Global Investment Joint-Stock Company (Viettel Global), Chairman of the Board of Directors of Viettel Consultant and Design Joint-Stock Company, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Viettel Construction Joint-Stock Corporation (Viettel Construction).
Attentively, as General Director of Viettel Global, he made an active contribution to expanding Viettel’s telecommunications market to nine countries in three continents with 175 million people.
