Viettel asked to contribute more to military modernization
PANO – That requirement is emphasized at the working session among the Ministry of National Defense, the Ministry of Science and Technology, and the Military Industry-Telecoms Group (Viettel), which took place on the afternoon of October 27.
Deputy Minister of National Defense Senior Lieutenant General Le Huy Vinh and Minister of Science and Technology Huynh Thanh Dat co-chaired the event.
At the working session, Viettel’s leaders briefed participants on the results of scientific and technological research over the past time, particularly in researching and manufacturing a number of weapons and technical equipment with high reliability and accuracy, effectively contributing to serving the training and combat readiness of the military.
Speaking at the event, General Vinh affirmed that the scientific and technological research will be enhanced in order to build a revolutionary, regular, elite and gradually modernized military. Therefore, Viettel is required to join the mission.

General Vinh and Mr. Dat spoke highly of the efforts and achievements of Viettel over the past time, especially its leading role in high-tech research and manufaturing modern weapons and equipment for military training. Also, they proposed orientations to help the group develop its qualified human resource and improve research capability as well as map out its priorities and key tasks, contributing to the modernization of the military in the time to come.
