Previously, due to the shortage of frequency resources, Viettel had to provide 4G services by utilizing the 1800MHz frequency band of 2G and part of the 2100MHz frequency band of the 3G services.
In that context, the new frequency band of 2600MHz has become the most important resource for Viettel to ensure the quality of its 4G services, which is set to be significantly higher than that of the 3G services, especially in big cities with a large number of subscribers. As a result, the 4G network speed will be doubled in the areas where the new frequency is used.
As estimated, data usage will hike during the upcoming solar and lunar New Year holidays, increasing by two times for 4G and 10% for 3G services. Meanwhile, voice and short message service costs will decrease by 10 – 15%.
Together with the operation of the new frequency band for 4G services, Viettel will put into effect a number of other supporting measures, such as installation of equipment, operation of new base transceiver stations, upgrading the existing systems, and the provision of wifi services at festivals and events that capture the attention of a large number of people. Viettel is now reviewing and optimizing services along national roads, gateways to cities, capitals of districts and provinces, resorts, airports, train and coach stations, and more. Not only applied to mobile services, the measures of Viettel have also been applied to landline, Internet, and television services so as to meet the increase in demand during the upcoming lunar New Year holiday.
According to General Director of Viettel Networks Cooperation Dao Xuan Vu, as the solar and lunar New Year holidays this year are quite close to each other, Viettel has to boost all preparations. Viettel has committed to ensuring the capacity and quality of its networks so that subscribers can best experience the services anytime and anywhere, both before and after the New Year holidays.
