The two sides agreed to complete the set of specifications for 5G base station products, and complete two laboratories for each side this month. It is expected that in November, they will make the first test call on the 3,600 - 3,800 MHz frequency band, and successfully commercialize the 5G gNodeB 8T8R base station on June 30, 2021 and the 5G gNodeB 64T64R base station on June 30, 2022.

The cooperation between Viettel and Vingroup aims to maximize their own advantages, and at the same time reduce costs compared to similar products on the market.

Previously, on January 17, 2020, Viettel successfully made the first 5G phone call in Vietnam. On July 6, 2020, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Information and Communications, Viettel demonstrated the performance of the completed 5G broadcasting station with a download speed of over 500Mbps. It is expected to reach a speed of 1.2Gbps by December 2020.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Le Dang Dung, Acting Chairman and General Director of Viettel Group said Viettel is always ready to cooperate with other businesses with the desire to turn Vietnam into a technological country. This cooperation affirms the potential of Vietnamese corporations, thus quickly perfecting products to put the 5G base-transceiver station (BTS) into operation, and providing the best 5G services for the Vietnamese people.

The cooperation between the two Vietnamese technology groups aims to promote digitization in Vietnam. It not only offers access to the latest technology to the Vietnamese people, but also affirms the solidarity power of the Vietnamese enterprises in the era of the fourth Industrial Revolution.
