At the 2025 parade celebrating the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day, Vietnam showcased advanced weaponry and technology researched and manufactured by Viettel. These achievements prove Viettel’s capabilities increasingly rival those of developed nations.
Growth driven by science, technology, and digital transformation
In 2025, Viettel’s revenue rose 13.8% to VND 220.4 trillion, exceeding targets despite a saturated market where the telecommunications and information technology sector grew only 3–5%. This double-digit expansion, driven by new growth sectors, yielded VND 56.8 trillion in pre-tax profit and a VND 40.9 trillion state budget contribution.

Viettel’s growth was driven by breakthroughs across all sectors, aligning with national digital transformation and innovation goals. The group continued pioneering national digital and logistics infrastructure while mastering core technologies for both civilian and defense applications.
Core enterprise in digital infrastructure development
By late 2025, Viettel had deployed 23,500 new 5G stations, totaling 30,000 nationwide. This Vietnam-leading network now serves 12.6 million subscribers, advancing the 2030 national coverage goal.
Viettel has broken ground on three hyperscale data centers in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. Serving as the “brains” of Vietnam's digital infrastructure, these facilities advance the national strategy to build sustainable, world-class data systems.
Viettel advanced infrastructure via key projects to position Vietnam as a regional logistics hub, including a Da Nang center, smart border gates in Lang Son, Lao Cai, and Quang Ninh, and market expansions in Laos and Cambodia.
Record growth in overseas markets
In 2025, Viettel’s service revenue from overseas markets grew by 23.9 percent, the highest growth rate recorded during nine consecutive years of expansion, despite the saturation of the global telecommunications market.
Viettel maintained the number-one mobile market share in seven out of its nine overseas markets, namely Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, Timor-Leste, Burundi, Haiti, and Mozambique, and continued to act as a technology leader in these markets. Five overseas markets, Burundi, Tanzania, Peru, Cambodia, and Timor-Leste successfully launched 5G services.
Building core platforms for digital transformation
In 2025, Viettel led digital transformation for central government, Party, and National Assembly bodies, deploying secure, large-scale systems and consulting on critical national databases for 13 ministries.
The Group identified AI as a strategic priority, mastering core technologies like Vietnamese large language models, virtual assistants, digital twins, and 3D SLAM-based autonomous robot operating systems. In cybersecurity, Viettel secured National Assembly Office systems and deployed end-user protection ecosystems, further strengthening its professional reputation and expertise in the field of information security.
“Make in Vietnam” high technology
Viettel has commercialized its "Make in Vietnam" 5G ecosystem globally, deploying extensive 32T32R base stations. Recent 5G Advanced tests also reached 7.3 Gbps, six times faster than current domestic speeds.
In collaboration with Ericsson and MediaTek, Viettel engineers successfully tested a 5G Advanced network using a 5G Core platform and multi-band base stations. As a major technology upgrade, 5G Advanced serves as a vital bridge to future 6G development.
In the same year, Viettel set the goal of participating in research, development, and mastery of nine out of eleven national strategic technologies, including projects in aerospace, the low-altitude economy, and semiconductor manufacturing.
Breakthroughs in high-tech defense industry
In 2025, Viettel achieved major breakthroughs in the high-tech defense industry, earning recognition from the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense. Following three years of intensive development, Viettel successfully tested a strategic weapon propulsion component under near-real conditions. Its technical parameters met or exceeded foreign counterparts, making Vietnam one of the few nations to master this complex technology and marking a new milestone for the domestic defense sector.
Viettel successfully tested several advanced weapon types in record time, surpassing global averages. New infrastructure for high-tech strategic components is now operational, aiming for full domestic self-reliance and meeting Central Military Commission and Ministry of National Defense mandates.
Additionally, Viettel delivered Truong Son and Song Hong missile systems to the Navy, while upgrading S-125-VT systems for the Air Defense–Air Force. These results affirmed that Vietnam’s defense industry has the capacity and expertise to produce and master strategic weaponry.
For exceptional contributions to economic development and national defense, the Party and State honored numerous Viettel collectives and individuals in 2025. Notably, one collective and one individual were named Heroes of the People’s Armed Forces. Viettel Global and Metfone were also designated Labor Heroes. Additionally, the Group and three leaders received First-Class Fatherland Protection Orders for excellence in integrating production with security operations.

In 2025, Viettel won 73 domestic and international awards, a 30% increase year-on-year. Notably, the group secured "People and Culture" and "Best Network in a Growth Market" at the World Communication Awards. Its Digital Twin platform also won Best Digital Transformation Project at the Global Telecoms Awards, a first for a Vietnamese enterprise. Building on this momentum, Viettel enters 2026 well-positioned to accelerate growth and national contributions through its robust technology and leadership.
