Various types of Vietnamese products are on display at the 77th International Handicrafts Trade Fair being held in Florence, Italy from April 20-28.
Vietnam was chosen as a guest of honour at the fair, which saw the participation of Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Phuong Nga and Florence’s Mayor Matteo Renzi.
Vietnam’s attendance at the event was part of activities within the framework of Vietnamese Days in Tuscany, which is taking place from April 17-28.
Handicrafts, garments, textiles, and seafood are showcased in18 pavilions representing 16 Vietnamese businesses.
Deputy Minister Nga said that Vietnam wants to introduce its land and people through the fair to help strengthen bilateral relations especially when their ties were upgraded to a strategic partnership after Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong paid an official visit to Italy in January this year.
On the occasion, Vietnamese artists also performed dances and songs accompanied by traditional musical instruments that won great applause from Italian audiences.
The annual fair in Florence is dedicated to traditional products from many countries, including China, Japan, Brazil, Argentina, and India.
*** In another event, the Vietnamese embassy in Italy coordinated with the Italy-Vietnam Friendship Association to hold a seminar in Florence on April 19 to discuss the progress of peace and external relations between Vietnam and Florence in the post-war period.
Most participants expressed their admiration for Vietnam’s drastic changes after its past struggles for national independence and highlighted the country’s political and economic stability, saying it will help the nation attract more Italian investors.
