Over 32,000 mobile users switch to Viettel
PANO - More than 32,400 mobile subscribers switched their cellphone numbers to the network of the Viettel Telecom Corporation, an affiliate of the Military Industry-Telecoms Group (Viettel), from October 1 to 22, according to the Telecommunications Department under the Ministry of Information and Telecommunications.
The number of subscribers switching to VinaPhone, MobiPhone and Vietnammobile was over 28,600, more than 8,600 and 10, respectively.

This October, VinaPhone had the highest successful switching rate among mobile operators at a rate of 75.1%, followed by Viettel (66.7%), MobiPhone (62.9%) and Vietnammobile (47.7%).
Since the launch of the mobile number portability (MNP) service, up to 1.26 million subscribers have registered to switch their numbers to new network providers. 81 percent of those registered have enjoyed successful switching. By the end of the third quarter of this year, the rate of successful switching among network operators is expected to reach 77.3 percent.
The Telecommunications Department has asked network providers to provide up-to-date and easy-to-understand information for their customers. They were also urged to improve the switching process and amend the circulars on switching services without changing subscribers’ numbers.
According to the General Statistics Office, the telecommunication sector has been improving its infrastructure to better serve customers. In 2019, the sector’s turnover is estimated to reach over 277 trillion VND, up by 7.23 percent against the previous year. By the end of this September, the total number of Vietnam's telephone subscribers was estimated at 135.2 million, up 5% against the previous year, of which mobile phone subscribers reached 131.4 million, an increase of 5.7% and landline broadband Internet subscribers were 14.3 million, up 14.5%.
