2017 APEC Asia-Pacific Forum on Financial Inclusion launched in Hoi An
PANO – The State Bank of Vietnam, in association with the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC), the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI), and the Foundation for Development Cooperation (FDC), co-organized the 7th annual APEC Asia-Pacific Forum on Financial Inclusion in 2017 in Hoi An city, Quang Nam province.
The policy dialogue focused on comprehensive financial orientations for rural and agricultural development as one of the four preferential cooperation contents of the APEC Finance Ministers’ Process (FMP) in 2017.
Nguyen Thi Hong, Deputy Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam, said that with some encouraging results through the application of global financial systems, such issues as poor people low-rate of assessing to inaccessible to financial services, gender inequality, wealth gap, unbalanced growth, people’s inadequate financial awareness, financial services of the digitization era and so on, continue challenging the international community.
The forum will bring together participants from the public and private sectors, including financial regulators and policy makers, multilateral institutions, financial institutions, credit information agencies, microfinance institutions, financial inclusion experts, industry organizations, and private foundations. By providing a platform for a high-level dialogue on financial inclusion among policy makers and regulators across the region, the event aims to strengthen capacity and provide advice on issues impacting financial inclusion and the challenge of digitization in the region.
Within the framework of the APEC’s finance and bank cooperation in 2017, the State Bank of Vietnam in coordination with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) of the World Bank will hold the 4th meeting on reforming financial institutions at the same place on July 12.
