Vietnamese shooters secure gold at Asian Rifle/Pistol Cup 2025
Vietnamese shooters Trinh Thu Vinh and Pham Quang Huy secured a gold medal in the 10m air pistol mixed team event on February 12 at the Asian Rifle/Pistol Cup 2025 in Bangkok, Thailand.
Entering the final as the top-seeded pair with a qualification score of 577 points, the Vietnamese duo faced a formidable challenge against a strong Indonesian team. However, the match began on a difficult note, as Vietnam fell behind 0-10 after the first five rounds.

Head coach Tran Quoc Cuong called for a crucial timeout, allowing his shooters to regroup and adjust their strategy. The tactical shift paid off, as Vietnam gradually closed the gap and dramatically leveled the score at 10-10 in the 9th round, with a combined 21.3 points.
With momentum on their side, Vinh and Huy delivered a dominant finish, sealing a 17-13 victory to claim Vietnam’s first gold medal of 2025 in a thrilling comeback.
The gold medal not only underscored Vietnam’s growing presence on the continental stage but also raised expectations for further successes in the tournament’s remaining competitions. This triumph is a testament to the resilience and fighting spirit of Vietnam’s shooters.
The Asian Rifle/Pistol Cup 2025 has drawn over 280 competitors from 22 nations, battling across multiple individual and team events.
