After nine matches, the former world blitz chess champion Liem had 5.5 points to become the runner-up of the event with the award of USD 11,000. 

Chinese Yi took the event’s title with 6.5 points to walk away with the prize of USD 20,000. 

With this result, Liem will gain 10 more Elo points to reach an Elo rating of 2736 and ranks 27th in the world. 

After this tournament, Liem will compete in the Saint Louis Rapid & Blitz tournament on August 14-19 in the US. 

The event will attract the participation of top chess players, including Ivan Nepomniachtchi of the Russia (Elo rating of 2819), Hikaru Nakamura of the US (2796), Lenier Dominguez of Cuba (2803), Viswanathan Anand of India (2789), Levon Aronian of Armenia (2797) and Sergey Karjakin of Russia (2765). 

Liem is one of four wildcards. The three others are GMs Leinier Dominguez of Cuba (2796), David Navara of the Czech Republic (2737) and Garry Kasparov of Russia, 54-year-old former world champion.
