Southeast Asia Futsal Championship to start on October 21

The tournament will include eight national teams which are divided into two groups and will compete in a round robin format, heard a press conference on October 13. Two leading teams from each group will enter the semi-final round.

The tournament serves as a qualifying round for the Asian Futsal Championship 2020. The three top teams of the tournament will be eligible to directly enter the championship

The Vietnamese team is in Group B with Australia, Indonesia, and Malaysia, while the other group includes Thailand, Myanmar, Timor Leste, and Cambodia.

This is the fourth time that Vietnam has hosted the tournament, which is being held by VOV and Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) and sponsored by HD Bank.

This is the second time that HD Bank has been the tournament’s sponsor. In September, HD Bank and the tournament's organising board held the National Futsal Championship.

The tournament’s opener between Thailand and Cambodia will start at 11:00am on October 21 and the opening ceremony is scheduled at 6:30pm the same day.
