SEA Games 29: Vietnam drops to third place on day eight
Vietnam fell to third place in the medal tally on August 27 at the ongoing 29th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games with 53 gold, 38 silver and 50 bronze medals.
The country secured two gold medals in judo, three silvers in women’s futsal, taekwondo and billiards on August 27. It also bagged four bronzes in men’s volleyball, springboard, billiards and taekwondo.
Vietnamese Taekwondo practitioner Ha Thi Nguyen pocketed a gold medal in Taekwondo for Vietnam on August 27.
Malaysia remained on top of the tally with 96 gold, 64 silver and 63 bronze medals, followed by Thailand (54 gold, 71 silver and 68 bronze medals).
Brunei was at the bottom of the list with 4 silver and 7 bronze medals, while Timor Leste was yet to seize any medal.
Vietnam sent more than 470 athletes to compete at the Games from August 19-30. They are scheduled to take part in 32 out of 38 sports and set to bring home 49-59 gold medals to rank in the top three.
